company
was founded in 1891 by
Gennaro Sferra, who started
the company by touring
exclusive American resorts
from Maine to Palm Beach,
selling Venetian lace
collars and cuffs to the
wealthy patrons he found
there. After noting the
high demand for hand
embroidered linens among
these leading families, he
opened a factory in Venice,
Italy in 1905 providing top
quality linens, hand made
lace and exquisite
embroidery to fine linen
devotees of the day. His
legacy has been handed on to
his sons, Enrico and
Albert.
